A HEARTWARMING AND FUNNY MOTHERHOOD STORY
Once upon a time there was a woman who used to sleep 8 hours in the night and laze around on weekends. Her clothes were free of gross bodily fluids amnd her bag rarely had cookie crumbs. Then she decided to have a baby. With books and the internet for friends – she thought she had it all sorted. But then her baby arrived and turned everything upside down! The baby made it his mission to present a new surprise everyday. Mommy, after fighting hours of helplessness, came to learn that parenting was a lost battle. There was only one way to survive – keep calm, laugh on and write when the baby dozes.
The result: I Made a Booboo – a rollicking account of the trials, tribulations and occasional triumphs of a first-time mom.
P.S: Everyone did live happily ever after (albeit only when the baby willed so!)

I am Shivangi and I wrote this book when my first child was born. (I have two children now, but I still am none the wiser as a parent!). My aim to write this book was to share with other clueless new parents about what goes on in the life of a parent, and make them laugh while doing that. There is enough seriousness in the world anyway.
Neither a guidebook on parenting, not a collection of baby’s growth milestones – this book is centered around the mother – her honest thoughts, observations, self-discoveries and goof-ups.
I wish for this book to reach out to as many new parents as possible – to tell them that they are not alone and that they are doing great on this most beautiful journey of life!
Drop me a note if you ever like to have a chat about your parenting story – I would love to listen!

Highly recommended.
For a mum, for a dad and for people without kids that hang out with people with kids.

Shivangi’s writing resonated with me a lot. I highly recommend this book to all mothers. The book touched me at many levels.

This book was so much fun! Not only was it well-written but also hilarious and touching. It also included great parenting advice- for example throw away the parenting books (sound advice I wish I’d listened to it with my first). And it will have you nod your head in agreement at least every page.

A refreshing and very funny read.I absolutely loved this book – it was an honest and hilarious account of the trials and tribulations of parenthood. I read it whilst still very much immersed in a baby bubble and it brought some much needed perspective and humour to the sleep deprived situation. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down and would highly recommend it to all first-time mothers. Shivangi writes candidly and with great elan – I felt a real affinity with so may of the situations she described. I really hope the author will continue her literary endeavours and look forward to more of her wit and wisdom!

As a new parent of a 2 months old boy, I would like to tell you that I very much enjoyed your book I Made A Booboo. It was a truely comforting experience to read about the struggles of a new mom and I recognized a lot of situations. A relief to know that my struggles with new parenthood are normal.
The Book is so much nicer to read than other parenting books, which often have a preachy tone and prescribe what to do.

A book that I just had to bring with me when I spotted it, especially when I read it and was just laughing so hard about what was written.
I loved how the author tells us all about parenthood and isn’t afraid to tell us all the not so fun parts about it. That it is hard work, lots of stress, that you have practically no time for something else. That at times you wish your kid would just understand the basic of things. But that there is also so much love and that she is just so happy with having her kid and seeing him grow up.
All in all, I would recommend this book to everyone.

An honest account of life as a mum. I bought this book for me and my wife to read for fun, and then again afterwards when we were expecting our own little one! An honest “warts and all” account of adjusting to parenthood. Not afraid to make fun of herself, the author captures the chaos and wonder of bringing up a child in the 21st century perfectly. Great read.

I bought this book for my wife as we had a ten month old daughter, who had turned our lives upside down. Things had moved on to the stage where she (my wife not the baby) had returned to reading on general topics as opposed to exclusively browsing for blogs about colic, so I thought she was ready for this book. She found it hilarious, so much so that she kept on reading bits out to me when I was tying to watch the football. I eventually revolted against my male prejudices and for the first time in my life I read baby book, cover to cover, as opposed to the other ones I’d feigned interest in when my wife insisted that I read about hypnobirthing. Anyway, I was delighted I did! Shivangi has a wonderful style, making the ordinary seem extraordinary, but as every parent knows, there is nothing ordinary about your child, especially the first one…

I doubt there is a single mother (or even father) who would not be amused and touched by this book. It was both hilarious and deep, and even though there is no trace of preaching it makes one rethink motherhood a bit. I also really enjoyed the author’s writing style which is light and really expressive in a nice way. I just hope Shivangi Sharma comes with another book soon (no pressure, though) because she indeed is a gifted writer.

Excellent piece of writing! Shivangi succeeded in writing a lighthearted, funny piece about a rather difficult and challenging part of our lives: parenting! The book is a great read for those who are planning to become parents, for it gives a realistic description of what is yet to come, without sounding scary, or listing up an encyclopedia on “do’s and don’ts; But also for those who already have a bundle of joy in a shape of a kiddo, and would enjoy a trip back the memory lane with all the firsts, seconds and ‘repeatables’.
It’s a super light, funny read- highly advisable!
